Polling time for the second phase of local bodies’ (LBs) elections in 18 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is over, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
However, the elections’ day did not pass without some disturbing reports as women were barred from voting in Swat.
Of 678 registered female voters in Swat’s Kabal area, which is Federal Minister Murad Saeed’s constituency, not a single woman turned up for voting at Swagelai polling station.
Presiding officer (PO) told the media that all the candidates had jointly decided not to allow women to cast their votes.
The PO said that the issue had been brought to the notice of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
