In order to comply with one more condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Friday approved to put an additional burden of Rs335 billion on the electricity consumers by imposing a permanent surcharge of Rs3.23 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Nepra sent its decision to the federal government on the latter’s request. The additional surcharge in the electricity price will be applicable to the domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural consumers from the next financial year.
It will also be applicable to the K-Electric customers.
It is to be noted here that a surcharge of Rs3.82 per unit had been imposed till June this year.
