Punjab Police devises foolproof security plan for Youm-e-Ali

Punjab Police have devised a foolproof security plan for Youm-e-Ali on Monday, which is marked as the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (AS), reported 24News.


The spokesperson of Punjab Police said, on the directives of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, over 24,000 officers and personnel of Punjab Police will perform security duties during Majalis and processions on the day.


While overall 16,000 policemen will be deployed for the security of 192 processions across the province, including Lahore.


The spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that more than 8,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for the security of 812 Majlis across the province including Lahore.


Overall 27 A-category mourning processions will be held across besides 62 A-category majalis. All activities will be monitored from the Central Control and Monitoring Room established in the Central Police Office in Lahore.


Safe Cities Authority, district administration cameras will ensure continuous monitoring of the processions and public gatherings on the occasion. Police will remain on high alert, ensuring checking of mourners with walk-through gates, and metal detectors. Lady police personnel will be appointed for security checking of female mourners while commandos in plain clothes, snipers will be deployed on roofs of routes in the processions. Special arrangements will be made to maintain traffic flow through alternative routes across the province.


All police teams including Dolphin Squad, patrolling force, Special Branch, and CTD will adopt a common plan for security arrangements on Youm-e-Ali Day. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar himself will supervise Muharram security arrangements from time to time, spokesperson Punjab Police.


Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar directed RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to remain in the field for the supervision of security arrangements during processions and majalis in sensitive districts.
