Kanye West has made startling revelations about his past relationship with Kim Kardashian, admitting that their marriage was a mistake and not part of a divine plan.
During an appearance on DJ Akademiks’ YouTube show, the rapper, now legally known as Ye, reflected on his six-year marriage to the reality star, which lasted from 2014 to 2021. "That was my fault," West admitted. He went on to say that he had doubts early on, revealing, "I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her, but that wasn’t God’s plan."
The former couple share four children—North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5. However, West expressed frustration over his lack of control in their lives. "I don’t have name and likeness ownership, or at least 50-50, with my kids. My kids are celebrities, and I don’t have the say-so," he lamented.
He further criticized the dynamics of their custody arrangement, stating, "So this white woman and this white family have control over these highly influential Black kids that are half the children of Ye."
West's comments come amid reports that Kardashian is seeking changes to their custody agreement. The legal dispute reportedly escalated after Ye released Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine, a song featuring their eldest daughter and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
