Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hit back at explosive claims made by Dr. Sophie Chanduka, chairperson of the Sentebale charity, following Harry’s recent resignation.
Dr. Chanduka accused the Duke of Sussex of “harassment and bullying at scale” and blamed him for major donor losses after stepping down as a senior royal. She also alleged that Meghan Markle disrupted a charity polo match by making an unannounced appearance with Serena Williams.
However, sources close to the Sussexes have dismissed these accusations as “baseless” and an attempt at “deflection.” According to MailOnline, an insider claimed that Harry’s resignation—alongside co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho—was a “direct result of the chair's mismanagement.”
For context, Prince Harry co-founded Sentebale 20 years ago to support children affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana. His recent departure, alongside Prince Seeiso, was reportedly due to tensions over the charity’s leadership and fundraising strategies.
Dr. Kelello Lerotholi, a former trustee who also resigned, told The Times that both Harry and Seeiso were deeply conflicted about leaving. “Given their commitment to the welfare of kids, they are torn apart at the thought of looking like they’re abandoning them when they know that they’re not,” she stated.
Despite the controversy, Prince Harry remains committed to his philanthropic work, with sources insisting his decision to step away was made in the best interests of the charity.
