National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Tuesday sought the opinion of legal experts about starting the process of verifying resignations of the MNAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The National Assembly speaker consulted with the legal experts how to start the process for approval of resignations and what strategy should be decided if MNAs do not appear in person.
According to the informed sources, the legal team provided three options to the speaker’s office.
The first option is to cancel the resignations if the MNAs do not show up in the House.
The second option is that the resignations can be accepted if the MNAs do not appear in the House.
The third option is to put the resignations on hold if MNAs do not come to the House.
National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf will soon decide the future strategy after consulting with the prime minister.
It is to be noted here that the National Assembly speaker is set to begin the process of verification of the resignations of PTI MNAs from June 6.
The NA secretariat on Monday sent notices to the lawmakers, asking them to appear in person before the speaker to testify that they had submitted their resignations voluntarily and not under duress.
The PTI, however, announced not to appear in the House following the issuance of notices to its lawmakers.
