Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has described the differently-abled children as real heroes.

All these kids are my heroes, she said while addressing a special ceremony on Thursday.

She added: These heroes achieve perfection despite all odds. They can't go upstairs but come to school.

"They can't hear but come to school. These are the real heroes.” The chief minister said the government is taking special steps for these children.

“I will do whatever it takes to bring these children into the mainstream," Maryam maintained, adding that after meeting these children, her resolve to serve them renewed.

“We’re making 300 special education schools the centres of excellence. Funds for the purpose have been released,” she said.

She announced: “We will establish a special autism institute. Whoever wants a wheelchair write to me. He will get it immediately.

She added: "A child asked about Nawaz Sharif in sign language, she said, adding that she would convey the message to Nawaz Sharif.

"I watched the painting and art of these children. It was amazing. I also commend the teachers.

"I am highly indebted for being given immense love from these children.

May Allah Almighty bestow upon us the will to fulfil the needs of these children. May Allah Almighty grant me the courage to meet their needs.”

The CM speech was also presented in sign language. According to a handout, the CM left her seat and sat among the children.

She visited a stall being established with the cooperation of UNICEF and GPE for the hearing aid.

Instead of standing before a traditional dais, she delivered her speech while sitting among the children. She monitored a medical test of the children with their hearing disability.

She also inspected the handicrafts and paintings of the children. The students of Special Education Sargodha presented CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif with a painting and a sketch.

She also launched an enrolment campaign and handed hearing aid instruments to children. Unicef representative Abdullah Fadil. Senator Pervez Rashid, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Info Minister Azma Zahid Bokhari, School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and senior officials accompanied the chief minister.
