Kamoke police torture media personnel: Journalists protest

No clear plan of action has come so far from the side of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership as from where the party’s long march will start on the fourth day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The workers are confused. Despite Asad Umar’s announcement of resuming the long march from Kamoke, the local leadership and workers are yet to gather at the point.

SHO, five cops suspended for torturing mediamen in Kamoke

The station house officer (SHO) and five other policemen of Kamoke city police station were Monday suspended for subjecting mediamen to torture.

Gujranwala City Police Officer (CPO) Umar Salamat suspended the SHO and other policemen who were seen torturing the mediamen in the video that had gone viral on social media.

The CPO also appointed Saddr Superintendent of Police (SP) Waqar Azeem as an inquiry officer. “Departmental action will be taken against those involved in torture of the mediamen,” he pledged.

It is to be noted here that Kamoke City SHO Manzar Saeed Butt had tortured the mediamen belonging to private news channels.

The SHO had also broken their cameras, and the mediamen had protested against the brutality of police.

PTI Chief visits deceased journalist Sadaf Naeem’s house 

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan visited the house of the deceased Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem to convey his condolences to her family on her tragic death. 

On Sunday, the Channel 5 reporter was crushed to death under Imran's container while covering the party's long march near Sadhoke.

Long march will reach Gujranwala today: Fawad 

In his tweet posted today, Fawad Chaudhry said: “Under the leadership of Imran Khan, the Haqeeqi Azadi March will reach Gujranwala today, the convoy from Karachi will leave for Islamabad via Hyderabad and Sukkur today, while the convoy from Pakhtunkhwa will leave on Wednesday. All these convoys will reach Islamabad. A rally of millions of people wants its democratic rights.”
