Chinese Ambassador calls on Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Chinese Ambassador to Islamabad Jiang Zedong, accompanied by a delegation, Tuesday called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and discussed the changing situation in the region, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a JUI spokesperson, the meeting addressed bilateral relations and pertinent matters associated with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The situation in the region, including Afghanistan, was also discussed during the meeting.
The discussions during this meeting also revolved around the desire to leverage China's technological advancements in the agriculture sector.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman apprised the delegation that millions of farmers in Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan want to bring uninhabited cultivable land under cultivation with the help of China.
This vision resonated with the Chinese Ambassador, who acknowledged the flourishing friendship between Pakistan and China across diverse circumstances.
The participants of the meeting agreed to expand the scope of CPEC.
At the request of Fazlul Rahman, the visiting delegation agreed to establish an industrial and economic zone besides the establishment of a major cargo airport in the southern districts of Pakhtunkhwa.
This infrastructure, integral to the agricultural industry, has garnered agreement for its inclusion within the CPEC framework.
On the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that China is a close friend and trusted partner of Pakistan. China's investment and big projects are commendable.
Chinese Ambassador said that the Chinese government appreciates your services for CPEC.
The Chinese Ambassador extended an invitation to Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit China, which was accepted during the meeting.
Mohammad Jalaluddin, a former ambassador, and adviser on foreign affairs, and Mufti Abrar Ahmed, who is the spokesperson for Maulana Fazlur Rehman were also present in the meeting.
