Asim Jamil, son of noted Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, was laid to rest at his native town, the 24NewHD TV channel reported on Monday.
People from various walks of life attended the funeral. Maulana Tariq Jamil expressed gratitude to the people for showing up at the funeral and sharing the grief of the bereaved.
“I am grateful to my workers brothers and friends. You share my grief,” he said adding that death should always be remembered.
He paid rich tributes to the deceased, saying: “My son was the best child. Very few parents are blessed with such a child. My son was kind to the poor. He did a lot for local people.”
Asim reportedly committed suicide yesterday and according to his brother Yousaf Jamil released a video statement ruling out enmity with anyone.

He said his brother was a patient of acute depression since childhood, and that for the last six months, he was being given electric shocks due to the severity of his illness. “Today as he was alone at home, he took a gun from the security guard and shot him dead,” Maulana Yousaf elaborated.
Maulana Tariq Jamil declared his son's death “an accident” in his tweet on Sunday night.

The Rasm-e-Qul of Asim Jamil will be held Raisabad on Thursday. Maulana Tariq Jamil made the announcement.
Meanwhile, condolences over the sad demise kept pouring in on Monday. Key figures expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
