Clinical trial of locally-designed ventilators begins: Fawad

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said that the clinical trial of the two designs of ventilators approved by Pakistan Engineering Council would be started at the selected hospitals.

In a tweet, Fawad, sharing a press statement, described this development as major breakthrough in medical engineering by Pakistan. He said trial would conduct at Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Indus Hospital Karachi and CMH Rawalpindi.

The press statement mentioned that a total of 48 designs were received out of which two had been sent to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) clinical trial permission.

The statement mentioned that it was a continuous process and all the designers were welcomed to submit the prototypes.

The aim was to promote industrial manufacturing of electro-medical equipment and devices, it added.
