Ishaq Dar appointed as PML-N election cell chairman

Former finance minister Senator Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Election Cell chairman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Senior party leader Ahsan Iqbal issued the notification for his appointment on Saturday after the approval of party President Shehbaz Sharif.

Another PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb uploaded the notification on her X account.

As per the Marriyum’s post, the head of the election cell will speed up the activities related to the elections of Muslim League (N).

All related matters including receiving applications for party tickets, monitoring the election rules will be completed quickly by Ishaq Dar who had also chaired the parliamentary committee that drafted the Election Act 2017 passed by the Parliament, she added.

PML-N, which was often found complaining about the absence of a level-playing following the disqualification and conviction of former prime minister and the party supremo Nawaz Sharif in corruption references, at last started its election campaign after their leader’s return from London on October 21, 2023.
