Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah while rejecting the Supreme Court’s verdict has claimed that the petitions on delay in the polls have been rejected by the apex court in a majority of 4-3 verdicts.

In an exclusive conversation with 24 News regarding the Supreme Court‘s decision over polls, the minister said the court decision does not meet the requirements of the Constitution and the law. The verdict is practicable.

He said that the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure), Bill 2023 -- aimed at curbing the top judge’s suo moto powers in an individual capacity has been passed by the national assembly and is resting with President. “It will become law after 14 days,” he hinted.

The federal minister Rana Sanaullah said the government is considering the option of filing reference against three judges in the spume judicial council.

To a query, he said how can there be contempt of court when there is no court decision.

Revoking the decision of Justice Qazi Faiz Isa is also wrong, it should not happen now there will be a reaction from the other side, he feared.

A rift has been created amongst the judges and the entire responsibility is on the shoulder of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, he lamented.

Sanaullah said that the cabinet also declared that this matter has been rejected by a majority of four to three judges.

“Tomorrow, there will be a consultation meeting with the heads of ruling allied parties on this issue,” he concluded.
