PM Shehbaz orders foolproof security of Chinese nationals

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all the security agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the Chinese nationals working on various projects in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Chairing a meeting on the security situation on Friday, the prime minister said he had decided to review the meetings concerning overall security personally.

The PM said the war against terrorism will continue till its complete eradication from the country.

He directed the interior ministry to uproot terrorism completely from the country and to increase collaboration with the provinces to further improve the provincial anti-terrorism departments.

The prime minister was also instructed to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for a regular audit of the security SOPs.

Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Naqvi, top brass of the security agencies, and the concerned high officials.

Last month, five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani driver were killed after a suicide attacker rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy near Besham city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Yesterday, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong Thursday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, state media reported on Thursday.

The meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, besides underscoring the need to increase counter-terrorism cooperation and intelligence sharing to fight off terrorism.

The president assured the ambassador that Pakistan would take all necessary measures to ensure the security of ‘our Chinese brothers, who are working on different projects in Pakistan’.
