PM Shehbaz forms task force for FBR’s digitalization

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a task force to give its recommendations for the digitalization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in one month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the minister of state for revenue would be the task force chairman, while Major General Syed Ali Raza would be its joint chairman.

They informed that members of the Force were Ghazi Akhtar, Ziad Bashir, Amir Malik, Farid Zafar, Asif Pir, Tania, Waqasul Hassan and Gohar Marwat.  

Furthermore, they said, the Force would also give suggestions for broadening the tax net besides giving recommendations for risk-based auditing.

Similarly, sources disclosed, it would also give recommendations for the introduction of the track and trace system.

They informed that the Force would give suggestions for data sharing between the provincial revenue authorities and ministries besides the automation of wholesalers, distributors and the middleman.      

While chairing a meeting yesterday, the prime minister had said that complete digitalization and restructuring were the components of the FBR’s transformation plan.
