PHC summons KP chief minister in missing person case

Swabi family tells the court SHO demanding Rs7m cash for recovery

the Peshawar High Court has summoned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to appear before the court amid a rise in missing persons cases in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim issued a 2-page order on the petition for the early recovery of a youth, resident of Swabi who was allegedly picked up by SHO Thana Zaida. The counsel told the court that police first of all refused the arrest but later demanded huge amount for his release.

PHC order further said that during the hearing, the victim’s counsel told the court that the missing citizen was picked up from Gulberg Peshawar and he was still in the custody of the SHO.

The victim's counsel further claimed that for the release of the victim, police were demanding Rs7 million cash. The family blamed incident on police and CTD 

PHC chief justice further said that the victim family was claiming that police and CTD were demanding ransom for the recovery of the youth.

PHC chief Justice further said that the situation of the missing person was taking grave turn therefore the court ordered KP Chief Minister to personally appear before the court on July 22, 2024.
