Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to take strict action against officials involved in inflating the electricity bills of consumers artificially, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Presiding over a meeting of the concerned ministers and officials in Lahore on Saturday, the PM emphasized that these actions were against the public interest and ordered the immediate suspension and strict punishment of those responsible.

He described those officials and personnel who inflated the consumers’ bills up to 200 units and above artificially as enemies of the public and stressed the need for accountability in the power sector.

He also issued immediate orders to address the grievances of citizens who have been burdened by unjustified increases in their electricity charges.

To ensure a thorough investigation and identification of the culprits, Prime Minister Sharif directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct a detailed probe into the matter.

This decisive move comes in response to widespread complaints from electricity consumers who have been facing inflated bills due to the unauthorized addition of units.
