Mikel Merino scored in the 119th minute to help Spain beat Germany in the Euro 2024 quarterfinal at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, Germany on Friday.

Earlier, Dani Olmo and Wirtz score for Spain and Germany respectively to take the score to 1-1 and the game moves to Extra Time in the quarterfinal of Euro 2024.

After a scoreless first half, Olmo put Spain ahead six minutes after the break, drilling home a first-time shot into the bottom corner, but Germany forced extra time through an 89th goal from Florian Wirtz.
The hosts Germany pushed hard for a late leveller but Spain held out to advance to the last four and a meeting with either Portugal or France who play later on Friday.

Spain have not tasted defeat against Germany since a group-stage loss at the 1988 Euros. Meanwhile, they have yet to knock out a host nation in any major tournament. Germany lead the goal charts with 10 goals in four games while Spain follow with nine from as many matches. Both sides have been superior in defence too, combining to concede only three goals this edition.
