Lahore ranks third in global air quality index with AQI score of 186

Met Office forecasts rain spell from Apr 14

The capital of Punjab province, Lahore has secured the third position with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 186 in an assessment of global air quality on Sunday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the ranking comes amidst concerns over deteriorating air quality in the city.
In the latest data released by the authorities, various areas within Lahore have recorded varying AQI scores. Fida Hussain House recorded a score of 288, followed by Thokar Niaz Baig at 267, Johar Town at 235, Kot Lakhpat at 225, CAA office at 194, and Phase 8-DHA at 253.
The city authorities have been urged to take necessary measures to address the air quality concerns and mitigate the potential health risks associated with the deteriorating environmental conditions.
Rain forecast
The Meteorological Department forecasts indicate that temperatures are expected to rise, with the possibility of reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the humidity levels currently stand at 46%.
However, there is no prediction of rainfall within the next 24 hours. Despite this, the department has warned of potential rainfall entering Lahore from April 14th onwards.
