Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Sunday that a healthy population was the basis of a prosperous society, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In her message on the World Health Day, she said the purpose of commemorating the day was to make people aware of the importance of staying healthy.

She said every individual needed to understand the importance of his or her health because that had an impact on the entire family.

Punjab CM, on the occasion, expressed her government’s resolve to ensure that all citizens had an equal access to health facilities in the province.

She informed that under the vision of a healthy Punjab, health reforms had already been introduced in the province. “Resources worth billions of rupees are being provided for the upgradation of health facilities,” she claimed.

The CM said that work on the upgradation of 2, 500 basic health units and 300 rural health centers in Punjab had begun.

She said that soon air ambulance service would be launched in Punjab. “Punjab’s first state-owned Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital will be built in Lahore,” the chief minister said, adding that Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Hospital would be built in Sargodha.

She claimed that the provision of free medicines at government hospitals had already started, and soon home delivery of these medicines would also begin.

“Apart from providing better treatment facilities, there is a need to create awareness in people how they could lead a healthy life,” Maryam said, and urged the people to opt for a healthy life by eating simple food but nutritious one.
