Four killed, PTI MPA injured in Lower Dir ambush

At least four people were killed and four others including PTI MPA Malik Liaqat Ali Khan, sustained bullet injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire on their vehicle in the Maidan area of the Lower Dir district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday, reported 24 News HD TV Channel.  

According to the police, MPA Malik Liaquat was on his way to his native Nagutal when he was fired upon on the way.

The injured persons including a minor girl have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Taimargarh. However, Police say that Malik Liaquat is being shifted to Peshawar in view of his critical condition. 

According to the police, a Levies Force official and a policeman were martyred

The reasons for the incident have not been immediately known.

KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take necessary steps for the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the attack.

Condemning the incident, the chief minister termed it a cowardly act and said that the culprits cannot escape from the law.

“The people involved in the incident will be arrested and brought to justice,” said CM.

CM Mahmood also wished for the speedy recovery of the MPA and other people who got injured. While he expressed condolences to the families of the martyred police and levies personnel.
