A deadly kite string has tragically taken the life of a 7-year-old girl in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Tuesday.

According to the channel report, the incident occurred in the New Shakrial area of Islamabad under the jurisdiction of Khanna police station.

As per the report, the girl's throat was cut by a sharp chemically-treated kite string, resulting in her immediate death.

In March 2024, a little boy was injured by a stray kite string in Islamabad. The injured boy was shifted to a hospital for emergency treatment.

The boy was looking out from the sunroof of a vehicle and got injured with the kite string in the federal capital.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to several deaths by chemically-treated string used for kite flying in Lahore and other cities in Punjab, the provincial government has been proposed multiplying the punishment and the amount of penalty several times for the violations of the kite flying laws to protect people's lives in the province last month.

Department of Local Government proposed an imprisonment of five years with a fine of two million rupees for the violators of kite flying laws in Punjab.

The Kite Flying Act in Punjab empowered police to crack down on offenders. Despite its existence, no kite-flyer or string-maker has faced substantial punishment.

According to sources, 90% of the fatalities have been attributed to chemical strings causing neck or facial injuries.

Interior Minister takes notice

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the incident of death of a 7-year-old girl due to strangulation in Khanna police station of Islamabad.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sought a report of incident from Inspector General of Police Islamabad with ordering strict legal action against those responsible.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family of the deceased girl.

The bereaved family of the innocent girl share the grief equally, said Mohsin Naqvi.

The Interior Minister also ordered to ensure strict implementation of kite flying ban law in Islamabad.

Indiscriminate action should be taken against the violation of the law prohibiting kite flying, Mohsin Naqvi directed.

On the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Islamabad Police launched crackdown on kite flyers in areas adjacent to Rawalpindi and in 39 raids 23 persons were arrested.
