The Young Nurses Association (YNA) has postponed its sit-in in Lahore following assurances of the release of nurse Aqsi, who was arrested in Khanewal.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the staff nurses initiated a protest, blocking the Chief Minister's Secretariat entrance at 8-Club Mall Road, after a case was registered against their colleague Nurse Aqsi in Khanewal.
PPP leader and former Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab (MPA) Syed Ali Haider Gilani held a meeting with the representatives of the YNA Ms Yusra and Ms Muqadas in Multan and convinced them to end the protest.
Syed Ali Haider Gilani, who is the son of the Chairman of Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, pledged to address the nurses' demands in the meeting with YNA representatives in Multan.
Later, the YNA Lahore issued a declaration stating that, based on Gilani's assurances, they are postponing the sit-in for two days.
