In an encouraging development, Pakistan’s rice export has touched a record $3.5 billion during the current fiscal year 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Former Chairman Rice Exporters Association Rafiq Salman told the media that Pakistan has made a record in rice exports, which underscored the country’s growing prominence in the global rice market.

He said that Pakistani exports exported more than 5 million tons of rice amid record yield after floods. He said the export of rice has increased 40 percent compared to last year.

Rafiq Salma said rice worth 3.50 billion dollars was exported this fiscal year compared to 2 billion dollars last fiscal year. He urged the government to increase the land for rice crops.

He also requested the government to reduce the interest rate immediately besides cutting in high price of electricity.
