Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has initiated a crackdown resulting in the termination of contracts for 210 national cricketers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

Sources revealed that these cricketers will no longer receive a monthly salary.

Last year, 360 cricketers were under contract, but this year the number has been reduced to 150.

The PCB explained that reducing the number of contracted players will allow for an increase in the salaries of the remaining players. Those who receive new contracts will participate in Pakistan's newly introduced top-tier Champions League.

In addition to the changes in player contracts, the PCB has decided to enlist prominent former cricketers as mentors.

The board is in discussions with several ex-Test cricketers, including former captains. Names under consideration include Moin Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Waqar Younis, and Mushtaq Ahmed.

PCB sources also indicated a mission to bring on board notable figures such as Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, and Kamran Akmal. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has personally reached out to several former captains to offer them roles within the board.

The new plan involves five former cricketers mentoring teams in the Champions League, while three former captains will be assigned important responsibilities within the PCB. This restructuring aims to strengthen Pakistan's cricket infrastructure and enhance the development of its players.
