Lahore High Court Justice Shahid Karim excused from hearing the petition against the presidential ordinance to appoint retired judge for election tribunal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Justice Shahid Karim heard the petition of citizen Munir Ahmed. The petition challenged the presidential ordinance to appoint retired judges to election tribunals.

The Federal Government, Election Commission and others have been made parties in the petition. Advocate Azhar Siddique appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

During the hearing, Justice Shahid Karim remarked, “I have already given judgment on the Election Tribunal case - it is not appropriate for me to hear this case”.

The petitioner’s lawyer requested the court send this petition to the court of concerned bench Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza or to the Chief Justice to constitute a larger bench.

However, the court sent the file to the Chief Justice to place the petition before the concerned bench.
