Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a committee which will review the procedure regarding the winding up of the Public and Works Department (PWD), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

According to the notification, Federal Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada will chair the committee. The members of the committee will be the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, the Secretary Establishment Division, the Secretary Power and the Secretary Housing and Works Department.

The committee will ensure effective utilization of resources along with presenting PWD’s transition plan. Moreover, the committee will share alternative models for the implementation of public sector development projects.

The body will suggest alternative models for the maintenance of PWD assets. The committee will share its plan to monitor the projects assigned to the PWD during the transition besides dealing with human resource issues. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Prime Minister within two weeks.
