Zil-Hajj moon likely to be sighted today

The Zil-Hajj crescent is likely to be sighted today as experts said the chances are strong while the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be in session in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Based on astronomical calculations, the moon will rise at 5:40 PM on June 6, with sunset at 7:20 PM. The moon is expected to be visible for about 50 minutes post-sunset, which supports the likelihood of a moon-sighting today.

Giving details in this regard, astronomer Javed Iqbal said that the moon was born at 5:40 pm yesterday, predicting predicted that at sunset today, the moon will be at 12.5 degrees above the horizon.

He said that the width of the moon will be very large at the time of sunset today and Eidul Azha is likely to be celebrated on June 17.

There is a strong possibility of seeing the moon of Zil-Hajj on 29th Ziul-Qaad, predicted the astronomer.

Today sunset is likely to be at 7:20 pm and at the time of sunset, the age of the moon will be 26 hours and 45 minutes.

The moon will be visible about 15 minutes after sunset and the duration of moon sighting will be 40 to 50 minutes after sunset while the moonset is expected at 8:31 pm, Javed Iqbal said.

He said that the moon must be 19 hours old for it to be visible for a naked eye.

On Thursday, the Zil-Huj moon 1445 AH-2024 was sighted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Therefore, Friday (June 7-today) will be the first day of the holy month, Arafat Day falls on June 15 and Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 16.
