As the deadlock persisted between the government and PTI over the chairmanships of Senate Standing Committees, the federal government has appointed Senator Faisal Salim as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior while Senator Faisal Vawda was appointed as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Naval Affairs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Earlier, to solve Senate Standing Committee chair issues, Leader of the House Ishaq Dar made a telephonic contact with PTI Parliamentary Leader Ali Zafarr to create consensus on Senate Standing Committee distribution between the Opposition and the Government.

During the talks, the Leader of the House refused to accept PTI's demand regarding giving them the committees of their own choice.

The leader of the House made it clear to PTI that it may not get committees from Law and Justice, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Human Rights.

The leader of the House offered the Senate Standing Committee on Interior to PTI. Resultantly talks between the government and the opposition were suspended.

Later taking to the media, PTI Parliamentary Leader Ali Zafar claimed that PML-N and PPP have distributed the committees among themselves.

Senator Faisal Vawda chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Naval Affairs thanked the committee members for reposing trust in him.

He said that not only the identification of naval problems, but the solution of the problems will be his top priority.
