Bodies of a man and his wife were recovered from a house in southern Cantonment, Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Police said the deceased had been identified as 80-year-old Sheikh Imtiaz and Memona Imtiaz and their bodies had been shifted to a hospital for the post-mortem.

The Force further said that an investigation had been launched to ascertain the cause of their deaths after the collection of evidence from the crime scene by forensic teams; however, the real cause would be known only when the post-mortem report was received.  

It appeared that the couple was poisoned to death, police said.  

Police further said that residents of the area contacted them after a foul stench came out of the house.
