The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an extensive plan to enhance the skills of cricketers at the district level for the upcoming domestic cricket season, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, the PCB's domestic cricket department has outlined a comprehensive selection policy for district cricket.

According to the policy, the selection committees at the district and zonal levels will be chaired by the district and zonal presidents.

These committees will also include the district coach, while the regional head will oversee the selection process to ensure transparency and efficiency.

According to the plan, players who demonstrated subpar performance in last year's first-class cricket will be integrated into the district teams, providing them with an opportunity to improve and compete.

Each district team will automatically select the top three bowlers and three batsmen from the previous season based on their performance.

The remaining players will be chosen based on their performance in the PCB Challenge Cup, ensuring a merit-based selection process.

Selected players will participate in extensive training camps designed to enhance their skills and readiness for competition.

Each team will shortlist 22 players, including three openers, six middle-order batsmen, five fast bowlers, two wicketkeepers, and two all-rounders.

These camps will culminate in the formation of a final squad of 15 players for each district team.

An essential aspect of this initiative is the emphasis on fitness. Players from both district and regional teams must pass a fitness test to be eligible for selection.

This requirement ensures that only those who meet the necessary physical standards will compete.
