Cricketers Bismah Maroof and Muhammad Ali have been appointed as ambassadors of the anti-polio program, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.

The announcement was made during a dedicated event organized by the Punjab Anti-Polio Program.

Khizar Afzal, Chairman of the Punjab Anti-Polio Program, expressed optimism about the involvement of the renowned cricketers, stating, "The involvement of cricketers will prove favourable for polio teams. Bismah Maroof and Muhammad Ali's efforts to prevent polio are commendable."

Highlighting the challenges faced by the program, Afzal noted, "Local breeding of polio in Punjab is a challenge. Immunization of 100 percent of children is a priority. National heroes like Bismah and Ali help us communicate effectively with parents."

Bismah Maroof emphasized the importance of eradicating polio, saying, "Polio control from Pakistan should be our priority. Strict surveillance is needed until complete eradication of polio."

Muhammad Ali echoed her sentiments, adding, "We stand alongside the polio teams in this crucial fight."

The appointment of these national sports icons aims to enhance public awareness and support for the polio eradication efforts, ensuring that Pakistan moves closer to a polio-free future.
