Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) and PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan on Saturday demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the rally taken out by the PTI from the Parliament House to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) building in Islamabad, he lamented the treatment being meted out by the government towards the country’s largest opposition party.

Throughout their march toward the election commission building, the party workers, holding banners bearing the picture of the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, kept raising slogans demanding the release of their beloved leader.

Speaking on the occasion, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the party was determined to secure the release of its founder. “We will continue to perform our duties and get the former prime minister released from the Adiala Jail,” he vowed.

Similarly, Barrister Gohar said, the PTI also wanted all its women currently languishing in jails to be allowed to go to their homes. “The very fact that they are in jails constitutes a blatant violation of basic human rights,” the PTI chairman said, and asked the state institutions to refrain from taking unconstitutional steps.

He said that justice delayed was justice denied. “We are not listened to in the parliament; our mikes are turned off.”

PTI’s rally in Jhelum restricted to houses

On the call of founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the protest rally was restricted to houses in Jhelum and was stopped at the MPA's camp.

A heavy police force present outside camp closed the gate of the camp.

PTI workers carrying placards and flags inside the camp were shouting slogans.

Since PTI was divided into several groups, not even a hundred workers could gather.
