The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a notice to summon former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri after he failed to appear before the court despite previous orders.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the three-member bench led by SC Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard Qasim Suri's appeal against the election tribunal's decision on Monday.

The court observed that according to the records, Qasim Suri's brother Bilal refused to receive the summons. Consequently, the court ordered that the summons notice be affixed outside Suri's residence.

The SC remarked that Qasim Suri was deliberately avoiding appearing before the court and termed his evasion of receiving the summon unfortunate.

During the proceedings, CJ Qazi Faez Isa addressed Suri's lawyer Naeem Bokhari and remarked on Suri's active presence in the media and on social media. Bokhari responded that he does not watch TV.

The Chief Justice then queried if Bukhari was familiar with platforms like Twitter. Bokhari stated he neither uses social media nor knows how to operate it.

In response, the Chief Justice encouraged Bokhari to stay 'youthful and up-to-date'.
Bokhari remarked he already feels old, to which Justice Irfan Saadat Khan reminded him of a statement he made on a TV program where he said his friends don't let him feel old.

Bokhari reiterated that he has no contact with Qasim Sur, on which the Chief Justice announced that the next hearing would be scheduled in July with the court's order specifying the date and adjourned the hearing.
