No possibility for court to remain silent if no one abides by Constitution: LHC

While hearing the intra-court appeals against the oath of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, the Lahore High Court (LHC) said Wednesday that there was no possibility for the court to remain silent if no one abided by the Constitution, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“The country cannot run like that. If this [violation of Constitution] continues, the Constitution should be thrown into a dustbin,” the court said in its remarks.

“Is there any restriction that even if the election is fraud, the governor is bound to take the oath?” the court questioned.

A five-member larger bench of the LHC, led by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, heard the intra-court appeals.

Barrister Ali Zafar appeared before the court on behalf of the PTI.

Additional Advocate General Jawad Yaqub and Assistant Advocate General Barrister Hassan Khalid Ranjha appeared before the court on behalf of Punjab government.
