On the direction of Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi, Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti visited the under-construction assembly building.
The secretary was accompanied by Punjab Assembly Secretary Coordination Rai Mumtaz Hussain Babar, DG Parliamentary Affairs Inayatullah Lak and senior staff.
He took a round of the house, speaker's office, CM Office, secretary office and committee rooms and showed dissatisfaction at poor performance.
He phoned Secretary C&W Asadullah Khan and raised concerns over the slow pace of work.
He raised the demand for digging in the unprecedented delay and award of contracts.
Superintending Engineer Ismat Sharif was asked repeatedly to pace up the work to meet the deadline but to no avail, he said.
Accusing Ismat of wrongdoings, the assembly secretary called for an investigation into the award of the contract to two inexperienced companies Shafiq Construction Company and Iftikhar & Co.
He also recommended the immediate transfer of Superintending Engineer, XEN and SDO and complete the construction at the earliest.
