Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf president and former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi has been detained on orders of the district magistrate under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) for a period of 15 days, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a notification issued by the Islamabad district administration on Friday, it is stated that as per intelligence reports, the accused Ch. Parvez Elahi remained involved in creating unrest and disturbance and has further potential to disrupt public peace if set free.
It further read that PTI has strong support in Islamabad, and their supporters are prone to damaging public property if they are provoked by their leadership.
In the recent past, Mr. Elahi has provoked PTI supporters to take the law into their own hands and it has been further reported that he has provoked the PTI activists through his statements to damage public and private property in Islamabad. He has also been provoking the workers for damaging the buildings in Islamabad that are State symbols.
So, in order to avoid any likelihood of breach of peace, or unlawful assembly in the federal capital city, Parvez Elahi has been detained for 15 days.
