A security guard opened fire from his repeater gun injuring nine members of a drama crew of a private TV channel, who were having a lunch break after recording, at a house in Khayaban-e-Shujaat area of Defence Phase-VI in Karachi on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital Spokesperson Dr Seemi Jamali said that seven of the injured people were brought to the hospital for medical treatment and all are out of danger.

Police have arrested the security guard, Gul Bani, who opened fire on the production and acting team of the private TV channel.

The injured included Yousaf (37), Akbar (25), Zahid (27), Muhammad Awais (22), Farhan (34) and 37-year-old Shehzad.

The incident occurred when the security guard had an exchange of hot words with the producer of the drama over having lunch in the rented house.

The guard opened the fire while aiming at the ground apparently to warn the drama crew. But, the bullets deflected after hitting the ground and injured nine of the drama crew members.

Karachi police have launched further investigation into the matter and arrested the guard.
