20kg flour bag being sold at Rs2,140 in Karachi

For first time price of one kilo flour reaches Rs107

Flour prices have risen sharply in the country in recent days, breaking all previous records and testing the patience of people already grappling with unprecedented inflation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday. 

According to the figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, for the first time in the country’s history, the price of one kilo of flour has reached Rs107. 

Similarly, the price of a 20-kilo bag of flour has reached Rs2, 140 and Rs2080 in Karachi and Hyderabad, respectively, while it is Rs980 in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and big Punjab cities. 

People in Karachi are left with no choice but to purchase a 20-kilo bag of flour at the price Rs1, 160 higher than that of in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab and the twin cities. 

The rate of a 20-kilo bag of flour has jumped by Rs180 in Karachi in just one week; by Rs140 in Hyderabad; by Rs40 in Sukkur; by Rs20 in Larkana; by Rs120 in Quetta, and by Rs100 in Balochistan city of Khuzdar.      

So much so that now it is available in Khuzdar at Rs1950; at Rs1920 in Quetta and Larkana, Rs1, 800 at Sukkur.
