The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the category renewals of 87 local players for the upcoming 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.  

Key players such as Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan (Islamabad United); Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars); Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans); and Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi) have retained their spots in the prestigious Platinum category.

Notably, Test cricketers Hasan Ali (Karachi Kings), Mohammad Amir (Quetta Gladiators), Saim Ayub (Peshawar Zalmi), and international star Usama Mir (Multan Sultans) have been promoted from the Diamond to the Platinum category.

The Diamond category features a total of 16 players, including former Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik and Test skipper Shan Masood.

The Diamond category now includes 16 players, with four each from Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans, three from Karachi Kings, two each from Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, and one from Lahore Qalandars.

In the Gold category, 30 players have been listed, with Peshawar Zalmi leading the count with seven players, followed by Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta Gladiators, each contributing five players. Islamabad United and Multan Sultans have four players each in this category.

The Silver category comprises 16 players, with four players each from Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars, three from Peshawar Zalmi, two each from Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, and one from Islamabad United.

The Emerging category features 12 players, with three players each from Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, two each from Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, and one each from Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars.

 Earlier, on December 12, the PCB opened the trade window for all six franchises and began registration for foreign players. Announcements regarding player relegation and retention are expected by the end of December.

The player draft for the 10th edition of the HBL PSL is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
