Selection committee to pick T20 squad for NZ tour meets on Monday

The National Selection Committee Sunday convened its preliminary meeting in Karachi, marking the commencement of crucial discussions for the upcoming cricketing season, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

The formal session of the committee is set to take place tomorrow (Monday), one of the primary items on the agenda was the formation of the T20 squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

The meeting also took key decisions related to player selection and r team strategy.  

PCB consultants including former test cricketers Kamran Akmal and Rao Iftikhar Anjum are expected to actively participate in the deliberations.

The initial meeting between the members of the selection committee and the Chief Selector, Wahab Riaz, focused on laying the groundwork for the upcoming discussions.

Riaz took the opportunity to brief the committee members on the selection policy and the criteria that will guide their decisions.

The meeting saw the attendance of former test cricketers Tausif Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti, and Wasim Haider.

Initial consultations discussed potential players and strategies to ensure a competitive and well-rounded team.

In the Monday's formal meeting, the selection committee will delve into a comprehensive assessment of players' performances in the National T20 Tournament. The committee aims to evaluate each player's contributions, fitness levels, and overall suitability for the T20 format.
