Gen Asim Munir says Fitna-tul-Khawarij threatens global security
Emphasises UN resolutions for Kashmir; Calls for regional peace efforts; Highlights Pakistan’s contributions to UN peacekeeping and global stability at Margalla Dialogue 2024 in Islamabad

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir said that "Fitna-tul-Khawarij has become a sanctuary for all terrorist organisations and proxies across the world. Pakistan expects the Afghan interim government to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism and take strict measures in this regard."
Addressing a special session of Margalla Dialogue 2024 held in Islamabad, the Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), spoke on the topic, "Pakistan's Role in Peace and Stability," highlighting Pakistan's significant achievements in fostering regional harmony and advancing international peace. The event was organised by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI).
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Army Chief said, "In recent years, the world has faced several challenges, with the rapid spread of false and misleading information being a critical concern. Violent non-state actors and state-sponsored terrorism also pose significant global challenges."
The COAS added that without comprehensive laws and regulations, false and misleading information and hate speech will continue to destabilise political and social structures, while religious, sectarian, and ethnic inequalities, intolerance, and divisions are increasing globally.
He emphasised the shared global objectives, including addressing climate change, fighting terrorism, and ensuring global healthcare. He stated, "Pakistan plays a key role in maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world. Our commitment to the fight against terrorism is unwavering."
The Army Chief highlighted the Radd-ul-Fasaad initiative as an integral part of the National Action Plan aimed at eradicating terrorism and extremism. He criticised India's extremist ideology, pointing out that minorities are not safe abroad, especially in countries like the US, UK, and Canada, due to such ideologies.
He also condemned India's brutality in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which he called a continuation of the Hindutva ideology and policies. He stressed that resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is essential.
He stated that Pakistan has always called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and consistently advocated for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The Army Chief affirmed, "We will not become part of any global conflict but will continue to play our role in ensuring peace and stability in the world." He highlighted Pakistan’s contribution of 235,000 personnel to UN peacekeeping missions and the ultimate sacrifice of 181 Pakistanis in the pursuit of global peace.
He also remarked that Pakistan is a significant player in the global freelancing market and will always continue to play a positive role for regional and global peace.
