Pakistan captain Shan Masood expressed his disappointment following his team’s whitewash in the recently concluded two-match Test series against Bangladesh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pakistan suffered a humiliating 0-2 whitewash against Bangladesh after losing the second Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The visiting team secured a six-wicket victory on the fifth day.

Bangladesh registered their first-ever Test series victory over Pakistan.

The Pakistan national cricket team recorded their fifth consecutive loss after Shan Masood took over from Babar Azam.

Speaking after the match, Shan Masood said that the team has failed to learn from previous defeats.

Masood said that the team had also allowed the opposition to come back into the contest.

He added that Test cricket required higher fitness levels while backing his four-pacers strategy in the first Test.

"Extremely disappointed, we were excited for the home season. The story has been the same as Australia, we have not learnt our lessons," Masood said.

"We thought we were playing good cricket in Australia but not doing the job, that's something we need to work on.

It has happened 4 times in my tenure that we have left the team back into the contest when we were dominating."

"I think Test cricket demands something else in terms of fitness.

We played 4 fast bowlers in the first Test and the reason was we thought the workload would be too much for three people to manage.

And that was proved in this game when we lost a fast bowler in each innings," he added.

Pakistan has failed to secure a Test series victory at home since the South Africa series in 2021. They lost the third Test against Australia in 2022, followed by a 0-3 whitewash against England.

Notably, the Pakistan cricket team has suffered six Test losses at home since the beginning of 2022.

Shan Masood admitted that they posted a decent total in the first innings. He added that the team should have capitalized after restricting Bangladesh to 26/6. Masood also noted that there are positive takeaways from the series.

"274 was a good score in the first innings, me and Saim could have got more runs like Litton.

But we should have done better from having them at 26/6. That's something we need to work on and work on quickly," Masood added.

"It isn't all doom and gloom, there are always learnings.

We got Shaheen and Naseem back in the fold, Shaheen has played consistently for a year across formats and we can't keep throwing him in the deep end," he remarked.

Bangladesh successfully chased down 143 runs on the final day of the match. This victory is significant for the team for various reasons, as it is an important milestone in their cricketing achievements.
