Reacting to the federal government’s decision to establish the Maritime and Seaport Authority, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) spokesperson Shazia Marri said on Sunday that the government was continuously taking such decisions on which the party was not taken on board, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement, Marri said that both the PPP and the government of Sindh were kept in the dark on the matter.
“We have been saying repeatedly that we support the PML-N-led government at Center,” she said, adding, “However, the day we withdraw this support, the government will come crashing down.” “Perhaps the PML-N is not aware of that,” the PPP spokesperson said, and added, “Its mindset is beyond comprehension.”
She went on to say that the PPP had been demanding for quite some time now that a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) be convened. “However, 11 months have passed. But the meeting has not been called as yet. This constitutes a clear and blatant violation of the constitution.”
Marri reminded that as per the constitution, the prime minister was bound to convene the CCI meeting in three months. “This is PPP’s demand that the issue of Maritime and Seaport Authority be discussed at the council’s meeting.”
