British High Commissioner Christian Turner Tuesday called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad and held discussions with him on bilateral relations between the two countries and the matters of mutual interest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, Imran Khan stressed the need for effective measures to curb money laundering, saying that money laundering from the developing countries were a major problem.

“The illegal transfer of money causes economic inequality. The Facti Panel of the United Nations (UN) secretary general has also highlighted its importance,” he said.

“The illegal transfer of money gives rise to the trend of migration among the people of the poor countries. Migration from the poor countries creates major challenges for the developed countries,” he added.

The PTI chairman stressed the need for effective steps by the governments at international level to curb money laundering. “The British government has the potential to play a key role in this regard,” he pointed out.

The British high commissioner thanked the PTI Chairman for hosting the meeting.

PTI central senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry and central additional secretary general Amir Mehmood Kiyani were also present on the occasion.
