The Department of Planning and Development and that of Services, General Administration and Coordination refused Tuesday to perform election duties in the local bodies’ polls in Karachi and Hyderabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the official sources, both the departments separately wrote letters to the provincial election commissioner in Sindh, informing him that employees of both the departments would not perform election duties in the local bodies’ polls in Karachi and Hyderabad.

“Performing election duty affects the work of both the departments which cannot be allowed,” the letter reads.

It also demanded that both the departments should be allowed to perform their own work and assistance of other departments in the local bodies’ polls should be sought.
