Peshawar Zalmi’s Darren Sammy has stepped down as captain and has been elevated to the role of the coach, according to the reports.
Sammy has been replaced by Wahab Riaz as captain, who also captained Zalmi in the previous match against Karachi Kings that ended into a loss.
Sammy has been named the head coach-cum-player for the franchise while current head coach Muhammad Akram has been made Director Cricket. Sammy will be available only as a player for Zalmi in the remainder of the season 5 and would take the field only if need arises.
Sammy has been appointed head coch of the team for next two years.
Earlier, ahead of Karachi Kings match Sammy came up with a cryptic tweet that raised concerns about differences between him and franchise.
The most favourite player of the PSL fans latter laughed off the suggestion that he has some differences with the team saying Zalmi is his baby and owner Javed Afridi his brother.
However, the latest development has proven the rumours that there was all not well between Sammy and Zalmi and to avoid the fans backlash Afridi has come with such an idea that is acceptable to the West Indian and would also get a nod from the fans as well.
