July 6, 2020 10:04 PM

The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) on Monday strongly condemned the shutting down of 24 News channel by Pemra.

In a statement issued today, PBA said: “Pemra’s action has resulted in loss of livelihood of hundreds of media workers and journalists besides loss of millions to the media house.”

The Pakistan Broadcasters Association demanded that Pemra should immediately restore the broadcast of 24 News and resolve the issue through dialogue.

PBA also requested Prime Minister Imran Khan, Information Minister Shibli Faraz and SAPM Lt General (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa to intervene and have the issue resolved.

PBA also condemned and demanded an enquiry into the alleged firing and using of force by Pemra security against the journalists protesting the channels closure.
