The Supreme Appellate Court in Gilgit Baltistan has ordered a halt to the election for new chief minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Hearing a petition submitted by one Haji Gilbar, the top court on Wednesday issued the stay order against the election for new CM.

A schedule to elect the new chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan was also issued on Wednesday.

GB Assembly sealed

In a major development, the police on Wednesday sealed Gilgit Baltistan Assembly after surrounding the building.

Several police vehicles entered the Assembly premises.

According to sources, there is a possibility of arrest of two PTI members of the assembly. Some PTI members are wanted in different cases, the sources added.

On Tuesday last, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court had disqualified Khalid Khurshid Khan as the chief minister of the region over allegedly obtaining a licence from the bar council on the basis of a fake degree.
