Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi Thursday took strict notice of the Pakistan cricket team's accommodation at a distant hotel in New York (NY) from the T20 World Cup administration and arranged for a change to a hotel only a 5-minute drive from the stadium where matches will be played.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Mohsin Naqvi contacted the ICC and convinced the event organizers to change the hotel for the Pakistan team.
Sources said that the original hotel for the Pakistani team was a 90-minute drive from the stadium while the new hotel is now only a 5-minute drive away.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi informed the ICC that he would not allow his team to travel long distances for any T20 World Cup match including the matches on June 9 and 11 in New York.
Mohsin Naqvi made it clear to the ICC that if the hotel was not changed, he would relocate the team to a better and more convenient location at PCB’s expense.
He emphasized to the ICC that the national cricket team is his responsibility and he will ensure the players' comfort at all costs. The Indian cricket team is accommodated just 10 minutes away from the ground in New York, while other teams are staying more than an hour away.
South Africa and Sri Lanka have already expressed concerns over the facilities provided during their stay in New York.
The Pakistan cricket team will travel to New York immediately after their match against the USA on Thursday.
